With a new FFXIV patch comes a new World Race, and this time top players from around the world are gearing up to compete for the World First clear of Arcadion Savage, Dawntrail's first raid tier. Whether you're competing in the World Race with your team or excited to watch from the sidelines, all of the action will be documented here for whatever you might miss.

This time around, racers will be tackling the first Dawntrail raid tier, Arcadion (Savage). The Normal Raids have been out for about two weeks now, and the work for World Race teams has already begun. Those who want to race have it a little harder this time around since Master Recipes didn't release a week early like they did in Endwalker.

That means that gearing for these fights at patch drop has deviated from what players saw last tier. This time, most teams have crafters who will immediately grab the recipe books from vendors, then craft each player their gear in order to have the Best-in-Slot gear as soon as possible.

Arcadion (Savage) World Race Tracker

World Race details will be updated in the table below every hour during waking EST hours. Major milestones will be noted below and updated as necessary.

Streams:

Arcadion (Savage) World Race boss status:

  • M1 - Black Cat - Cleared
  • M2S - Honey B. Lovely - Cleared
  • M3S - Brute Bomber - Cleared
  • M4S phase one: Wicked Thunder - Cleared
  • M4S phase two: Wicked Thunder - Cleared

Arcadion (Savage) major updates:

July 30

  • 7:30am: Several teams have cleared the first fight already, including Serenity, Kindred, Krile and Echo. Teams are already making decent progress on Honey B. Lovely.
  • 8:30am: Echo has cleared M2S, and are now well on their way to progging M3S. Lucrezia cleared it about 10 minutes later, with Serenity four minutes after them. Teams are now starting to receive their full BiS gear and food from their crafters. Krile also cleared. From first to fourth, four teams have cleared the fight within 30 minutes of each other, tightening the race.
  • 9:30am: Teams are still progging M3S. Echo is getting the boss down under 10% consistently, and are likely close to a clear. Other teams such as Lucrezia and Krile are still working on a mechanic around the 25% mark.
  • 9:41am: Japanese team Krile pulled ahead and cleared M3S and will now move onto M4S. Echo's stream is currently suffering technical difficulties but is still working on a clear.
  • 10:50am: Many teams have moved onto M4S, and players are now slowly making progress with the hardest fight of the tier. Few teams have taken the boss down past 90%, which is common for these fights. The first three raids were cleared quickly compared to previous tiers, but because of the huge disparity in difficulty from M3 to M4, teams will be stuck on this fight for longer than all three of the first fights combined if previous trends continue.
  • 11:45am: Team Lucrezia has phased the M4S boss, although the name still eludes players since it was in Japanese. So far, they're the only team that has reached the second phase of the fight. Since the transition happened so early, some are speculating that we could see another phase change before the fight is over. On a wipe, players begin at phase one, confirming that at least for the first phase change, there is no door boss for this tier.
  • 1:45pm: Teams continue to wear down on M4S phase two. Top streaming teams are now getting down to below 40%. Some new, non-streamed teams have started to show up on FFLogs, although Echo remains the top team as far as logs go. Krile, Lucrezia and DN are all making competitive progress, but have hidden their logs from public view.
  • 2:15pm: New logs have been updated and Echo and Serenity are extremely close to a kill. Echo's best pull is a 13.5% and Serenity isn't far behind them with 14.3%. It's possible a clear happens soon.
  • 3:00pm: Serenity is the first team to finish Arcadion (Savage). Multiple streams are close to a clear as well. One of the members of Serenity, Mazz, tweeted an image of the victory, and has told IGN that a VOD will be uploaded shortly.
  • 3:18pm: Both Lucrezia and Echo cleared within the same minute of each other to finish second and third, however it's unclear which one was second and which one was third, because of stream delays and the lack of logs on Lucrezia's side.
  • 3:45pm: There is discourse around whether Japanese team GRIND or NA team Serenity actually won the World First race. Both teams cleared with screenshots showing the same timestamp, but there currently is no verified winner, considering there are no VODs of either clear yet, and GRIND didn't upload any logs. Both MogTalk and the teams are working to submit evidence to figure out a winner.
  • 3:49pm: Actual completion times are still unverified, but preliminary information points to GRIND earning the World First kill just seconds before Serenity. Timestamps are still being confirmed, but until the information can be verified, the belief is that GRIND cleared at 3:21 Eorzea Time and Serenity cleared 3:22 Eorzea Time. Considering there is two and a half seconds per Eorzean minute, this could mean that the two cleared the fight within three seconds of each other.
  • 3:55pm: GRIND has uploaded a log to FFLogs. According to both logs, GRIND cleared the fight at GMT 18:59:25, and Serenity cleared at GMT 18:59:46. This means that according to FFLogs, GRIND is the World First winner by 21 seconds.
  • 4:03pm: Frosty from Mogtalk has confirmed the World First Winner. GRIND has officially won the World First title with a completion time of 3:14 Eorzea Time. Serenity followed just seconds behind with a 3:21 Eorzea Time clear, and Lucrezia and Echo followed close behind and were the first two streaming teams to clear the fourth boss.

What is the FFXIV World Race?

In Final Fantasy XIV, World Races have typically been a community-run event. Streamers from the teams and community members come together to stream the fights and show their progress throughout the tier. World Races are still not officially sponsored or sanctioned by Square Enix, mainly due to the inability to detect third-party tools.

There are a few types of World Race events the community has run. The most popular are the Ultimate fights, which is the hardest content in the game and can take a long time to clear. This caliber of content has several checkpoints within the Trial and is much harder than Savage. In the past, the community has also run clears of Variant Dungeons (Savage) in addition to the Savage level raids.

This tier of fights will see players run through Arcadion (Savage), which consists of four bosses. Typically, the last boss of the tier will have two phases, like Athena and Pallas Athena in Endwalker. The World Race could take as little as a day, or as long as a week depending on the difficulty of the fight and the ability of the teams to move through the mechanics. The last World Race for Savage took about three days for the first team to clear.

How to watch the Arcadion (Savage) World Race

The best way to watch the Arcadion (Savage) World Race in FFXIV is to tune into MogTalk's Twitch stream. Headed by community streamer Frosty, MogTalk has over 30 streamers, community members, and commentators slated to cover every aspect of the fight. There will also be a pre-show beginning at 9pm PST leading up to the patch drop, which will kick off at 3am PST.

MogTalk's stream will cover the top teams, focusing on one or many streams depending on whether the top performing teams are broadcasting their prog or not. Full fight analysis given by experienced hosts on a rotating schedule means that no matter when you're around to watch the fights, someone will be discussing the fight until the World Race concludes.

Teams that signed up for the World Race through Mogtalk will be eligible for prizes. Teams who sign up must agree to stream their prog, and the top three performing teams will earn some prizes, such as Corsair gaming equipment and an Elgato microphone/Stream Deck.

Not only is MogTalk the best source of ongoing World Race coverage, but the stream is continuing its tradition of raising money for charity for Extra Life during the broadcast. Those who donate are entered to win some neat prizes, including a Chocobo plush, FFXIV-inspired key caps, a Cloud Figurine, and other prizes.

This time around, the MogTalk stream is sponsored by Mountain Dew. Those watching the stream will also have a chance to win some prizes such as the Mountain Zu mount and the Sparkling Citrus Refreshment items that were recently part of the Mountain Dew collaboration with FFXIV.

This time around, EchoGuild is also competing in the World Race, and will be broadcasting its team's prog on their Twitch channel as well. They will also be raising money for charity through Extra Life. This is the first time fans will be able to watch Neverland's World Race prog after competing without streaming in previous fights.
